The challenges of The Fresh Connection are many-sided. You enter the competition as a team, not as an individual professional. Teamwork is a critical factor for success, because both individual performance and team results are clearly presented after every round. So without teamwork, even the best professional could become a loser.
Your team
You will probably want to create a team from inside the organisation you work for. But this is not the only option. Why not create a team with professional colleagues from other organisations? You may want to take on the role you are most familiar with. But there is no reason why you should not try to optimise the supply chain in a new or less familiar function. Whatever the composition of your team, the experience is sure to be an educational one.
The four roles
Each team consists of:
- one Supply Chain Vice-President responsible for supply chain strategy and control decisions;
- one Purchasing Vice-President responsible for the choice of suppliers, supplier agreements etc;
- one Operations Vice-President who will concentrate on the organisation of operations and the warehouse;
- one Sales Vice-President who will take decisions on customer service, the priorities of orders and promotional activities.
